| Looks like CCR will be "merging" character data over to some type of "Global RF" which in other words sounds like waiting for contracts to expire so that they can do the same with other licensed version and collect more revenue. I'm not one to fear monger but to be honest it sounds like a marketing move in order to gain more profit in the long run. Currently a company would license the game for a set number of years according to signed contract with CCR. CCR has the right to deny a renewal of the contract if they want to. Eventually it looks like CCR will wait for these contracts to expire so that they can merge those servers into this "Global RF" and my assumption is that the amount of money they will gain from a global cash shop is far greater than that of licensing payments for separate regions. None the less CCR will surely not want to work with the RFDB seeing as they have one already (just needs to be translated into other languages). The domain status is still the same, it will continue to be up for sale till it expires. Expect the website to redirect to the subdomain (http://rfdb.alphaoptix.com) on January 1st 2009. | |

| On October 23rd (Thursday) between the hours of 12pm and 6pm EST (GMT-4) AlphaOptix and all its websites will be down for 1 hour. The main switches used to route the servers will be undergoing upgrades. In turn we hope for faster load times and better overall speed for visitors overseas. | |

| So with the announcement that Codemasters (Codemasters announcement) will shut down the RFO servers for NA/UK so comes the announcement that the RFDB will be depreciated. This does not mean that the data is going anywhere but the website will under go some changes. These changes will include the following:
Those of you whom have the RFDB running on other servers or translated into other languages may continue to run the RFDB for whatever time they see fit. RFO is still thriving in several regions so I would expect more translations to pop up sooner or later. If the NA/UK license is bought by another company I will contact them to see if we can work out a deal for combining the RFDB with their website and perhaps even update past 2.1.6. If you would like to buy the rfaddict.com domain you may contact me at kaos[at]rfaddict.com. I have no set price for the domain name and am open to discussion about its price. Reasonable prices should only be considered, stats for the month of September are below. Current Alexa Ranking: 219,495 Top Alexa Ranking: ~32,000 September Page Views: 178,779 Max Month Page Views: 527,614 September Unique Views: 34,776 Max Month Unique Views: 77,216 Indonesia Users: 65.9% Indonesia Alexa Rank: 8,286 As you can see by the stats the loss of interest in the NA/UK version drove down hits significantly. Being within the top 100,000 most used websites on the internet was amazing but fads come and go. The majority of viewers are from the Indonesian version of the game so take that into consideration before offering. Also understand the the domain name is up for sale, not access to the original databases or original RFDB files. You are simply buying the domain name and nothing else. The domain will redirect to the subdomain (rfdb.alphaoptix.com) beginning on January 1st 2009. If a buyer is found for the domain name before that time the domain will be redirected and a news post will be made letting users know to change their bookmarks. RFDB 2.2 officially works with phptriad / easyphp default installation. Tested For Functionality:

Download the new Maps.rar file (for editing and translating mob names) Here. Thanks to all who helped with the project and bug reports. This is the last and final release of the RFDB; I leave it in the hands of others to carry on with this project. Sadly Codemasters did not help me at all to finish this project, like RFDB 1.0 I was on my own to collect data and finish it. My respect for Codemasters and CCR has been completely destroyed. The amount of bugs and client side exploits in the game alone should grind it to a hault sooner or later. I refuse to play or do a database project on any other games Codemasters dares to publish due to its lack of community site involvement and business model. The RFDB forums will be closed and locked and I shall personally crawl back to real life and finish up my college degree. Though come august AO will be back in action for our database project on Aion. Until then, enjoy the site and other AO projects. The AO Team hopes to see you in Aion and taking part in the creation of AionSky! | |
